This Privacy Policy explains how Temogo Ltd ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use the weRate application ("App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly.

Temogo Ltd is registered in England and Wales. Registered office: 1 The Green, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 1PL, United Kingdom.

1. Data We Collect

We collect the following personal data when you use weRate:

• Account data: your chosen username and email address, collected when you register.
• Usage data: your film ratings, recommendations, watchlist entries, and written reviews.
• Group data: the groups you create or join, group names, and member usernames.
• Messages: chat messages sent within groups.
• Technical data: device type, operating system version, and app version, used to diagnose issues. We may use AWS CloudWatch and similar infrastructure tools to collect logs and crash diagnostics. We do not currently use third-party analytics SDKs.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, camera data, or microphone data. We do not collect payment information.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data solely to provide and improve the weRate service:

• To create and manage your account.
• To display your ratings and recommendations to members of groups you have joined.
• To enable group chat and collaborative features.
• To diagnose technical issues and improve app performance.
• To comply with our legal obligations.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your data to third parties.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data on the following legal bases under UK GDPR:

• Contract: processing necessary to provide the service you have signed up for.
• Legitimate interests: improving the app and preventing abuse, where this does not override your rights.
• Legal obligation: where required by law.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure located in the United States. AWS is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to your data is restricted to authorised personnel only.

Your account is protected by AWS Cognito authentication. You are responsible for keeping your password secure.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share data only with:

• AWS: our cloud infrastructure provider, acting as a data processor on our behalf.
• The Movie Database (TMDB): we query TMDB's API to retrieve film metadata. Your personal data is not shared with TMDB.
• Law enforcement: where required by a valid legal request.

6. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification of inaccurate data.
• Erasure of your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Restriction of processing in certain circumstances.
• Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
• Object to processing based on legitimate interests.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

If you are located outside the UK or EU, your local laws may provide additional or different rights regarding your personal data. Please contact us to discuss.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Group chat messages are retained to preserve group history. If you delete your account, your messages will be anonymised — your username and user ID will be replaced with "deleted user" — so that the content of group conversations is preserved without being attributable to you.

8. Children

weRate is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the App or by email. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last updated.
